December 5th Pier

side shore, chilly

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: ankle to knee
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: frostbite

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, December 5th at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the pier this morning are less than knee high.

Winds are WNW with gusts around 15 knots and surf is textured and side shore.

Look for NW winds increasing up to 20 knots today and remaining from the N over the course of the week.

Low tide will be at 12:18 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:18 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 6 seconds in a short period WNW combination.  Small and sideshore today with some chilly wind out here on the beach. We see continued high pressure through Friday before another storm system puts a damper on our weekend with lots of rain likely. We may see some increasing swell heights angled from the SE late Saturday into Sunday before more high pressure moves into the area.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cooler and drier high pressure will build today then linger through Friday. A low pressure area with widespread unsettled weather will move through this weekend. The system is expected to move off the Mid Atlantic Coast early next week before high pressure builds into the region from the west.”

It’s 39* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 54* and sun today.

Water temperature has dropped to 56*. It’s getting cold out there, so you’ll at least need a 3/2 and some booties to surf this weekend.

Sunrise was at 7:07 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
