Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Come on by Ocean Surf Shop to Christmas shop for the surfer in your life. It’s quick, easy and you get a free walk on the beach with each holiday gift purchase, should you choose to redeem it.
Waves at the pier this morning are flat with a knee to thigh high set.
Winds are west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf is very clean.
Look for winds to continue north today at 5 knots, and surf zone should stay clean all day.
We are coming off a high tide now. Low tide will be at 1:49 p.m. and high tide will be at 7:44 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium period easterly ground swell.
We still have small surf today, and Saturday will likely start the same way. There is a storm system brewing out of the Gulf and headed our way for the weekend. This low pressure system should begin to build waist to stomach high in choppy north-easterly wind-swell Saturday afternoon, building Sunday. Sunday morning should be choppy, but winds should come north later Sunday afternoon and surf could clean up some later in the day Sunday. But, look for lots of easterly current (down the beach) for Sunday. Surf continues clean but a bit drifty to start the work week in the waist to stomach high range. There should be some north-easterly ground swell through mid-week (next week), before a cold front moves through in the latter part of the week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. A potent storm system will affect the area Saturday through Monday. High pressure will return for the middle part of next week before a cold front moves through late in the week.”
It’s 43* and sunny this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 59* and sun today.
Water temperature has dropped to 56*. It’s getting cold out there so come see us for some new neoprene.
Sunrise was at 7:07 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
