Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, January 12 at 8:15 a.m.
Super foggy this morning, but we did the best we could on the pictures.
The water temperature went UP to 44*, so put on your neoprene if you plan on surfing this mid-week swell. We have booties, gloves and hoods.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to stomach high with chest sets in south-east swell. It should get a push with the incoming tide early afternoon, but it still looks pretty fun.
Surf is bumpy and semi-choppy and there is fog. It looks like another fun day of surf.
Winds south/south-east at 5 to 10 knots, and we expect winds to increase southerly at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, with bumpy, semi-choppy surf all day.
Low tide is at 10:35 a.m., and High tide is at 4:29 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 7.5 ft. at in a combination of east/south-east swell and south-east wind swell. Swell has good direction, and we should see big surf all day.
Look for fun, semi-choppy south-east ground swell to continue today. We see winds trend south at 10 to 15 knots today, and surf should increase in size as the tide comes in early afternoon. A front approaches late today, and winds go south-west and blow south-east overnight. Look for side-shore, westerly winds for Saturday, and waist to stomach high surf and fading swell. Sunday see’s leftover south-east swell average thigh to waist high with off-shore winds. Could be a nice clean long-board session for Sunday. We see small but long-boardable south-east ground swell for next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will approach from the west today and move through the area this evening. A secondary front will arrive Saturday night. Cool high pressure will then settle over the area Sunday into early next week before another front brings even colder air for the second half of next week.”
It is 64 with clouds and some this morning. Expect a high of 67* with a 70% chance of rain today.
