choppy and weak

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m
Wave Forecast: thigh high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: t-storms

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, June 9 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high with a waist set with poor conditions overall.

Winds are South at 15 mph, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy in a south wind swell.

Look for winds from the south today at 15-17 mph knots, with some bump and chop in the surf zone today, cleaning up in a rain storm.

Tide is now coming in, and high tide will be at 2:00 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:53 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a south wind swell.

We have a small wave out there in the thigh high range in choppy onshore conditions for today. Best bet is later this morning as the tide fills in. We do expect moderately sized south wind waves to increase a bit Monday into Tuesday. This choppy south/south-west wind swell will be building into the middle/latter part of the work week with mostly choppy conditions as a low-pressure system and unsettled weather lifts from our west to the north-east during the middle of next week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure and unsettled conditions will prevail through thefirst half of next week. A cold front will move through late next week, followed by a brief period of dry high pressure.”

It’s 78* and cloudy this morning.   Look for some sun, with showers and thunderstorms on-and-off today and a high of 82*.

Water temperature is around 81*.

Sunrise is at 6:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:26 p.m.
