Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our wetsuit sale. All full-suits marked down at least 20% and you’ll need one for the next two months.
We are planning to hold the Icebox Open on a weekend with some good waves and the call period starts this weekend. We’ll let you know later this week if we plan to hold the contest this weekend.
Surf at the Washout this thigh to waist high with stomach high sets in semi-choppy, side-shore north-east wind swell.
Winds are north-east at 20 to 25 knots, and surf is drifty. Look for winds to diminish to 15 knots late this afternoon, and we see semi-choppy, drifty surf all day.
Tide is going out, and low tide will be at 12:20 p.m., with a high tide at 6:19 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 9.5 ft. at 8 seconds in north-east wind swell. Most of this wind swell is rolling past our beaches with a high northerly angle.
North-east wind swell is in the water today, and the wave-form and swell direction is not as good as it has been over the last several days, but there is still some surf. We see north-east wind swell today, with increasing east swell and north winds for Wednesday, when waves average waist high with colder conditions. Swell rotates more from the south/south-west for Thursday and Friday when we see thigh to waist high surf in choppy side-shore conditions.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A strong high pressure wedge will cover the area today into tonight. High pressure will then prevail through late week. A cold front will move into the area Friday night and may linger in the vicinity over the weekend, before lifting north as a warm front early next week.”
It is cloudy and 53* this morning. Look for a high of 57* with mostly cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water temperature is right around 55*.
Sunset is at 6:03 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:03 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
