Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, January 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the washout knee-high with a rare thigh-high.
Winds are light from the west, and surf zone is very clean.
Look winds to go south-west at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon, making small surf semi-choppy.
We have a high tide at 9:13 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:22 p.m. The next high tide at 9:17 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 6 seconds in a medium-period east/north-east swell, but with the swell angle, not much is making it into the beach.
Waves are small this morning, and we really don’t expect much real surf during the work week. A low pressure system is forecast to come out of the Gulf of Mexico late Saturday into Sunday along a frontal boundary near our marine area. This should bring unsettled weather and push up a quick shot of small south-easterly swell, before we see high angled north-east wind swell Monday of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through tonight as a weak coastal trough dissipates offshore. A cold front will move through the area Tuesday night. Dry and colder high pressure will build over the area mid to late week. Periods of unsettled weather are expected to develop over the weekend.”
It’s 57* this morning with mostly cloudy skies. Look for a beautiful beach day with a high of 69* and sun behind some cloudiness.
Water temperature is up to around 59*.
Sunrise is around 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:28 p.m.
