Semi-choppy

Time of Report: 8:30 AM
Wave Forecast: thigh to waist, occ. stomach
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, May 16 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a ton of longboards, short-boards and fun-boards on our consignment racks at great prices. The selection is insane right now, so come find your new stick!

Surf at the Washout is running thigh to wasit high. There is an occasional stomach high set, but it is a little disorganized. It is building, however.

Winds are south/south-east at 10 to 12 knots, and surf is choppy.

We expect south-east winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon making surf choppy.

High tide will be at 9:18 a.m. low tide will be at 3:15 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:24 p.m.

The Edisto buoy reading 3.3 ft. at 6.2 seconds in building, short period south-east wind swell.

We expect the surf to keep building today with choppy conditions as a slow moving upper level trough keeps winds trending south/south-east. This will push some choppy, bumpy southerly wind swell into our beaches today into Thursaday. High pressure sets up to our west and sends in a decent trade-wind swell for the remainder of the work week and into the weekend. Conditions won’t always be perfect with south/south-westerly winds, but there is some surf of varying quality in the forecast for the next week or so. Get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain over the central Atlantic while an upper level trough remains to the west through the weekend.”

It is cloudy and 76* as of report time. Look for a warm day with a high of 77* today with rain and thunderstorms this afternoon.

Water temperature is now up to around 76*. Shed all that neoprene. We have TONS of rash guards at the shop.

Sunset is at 8:07 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:24 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
