Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout at waist to stomach high with chest high sets. It is soft at the morning’s high tide, and is choppy.
Winds are south/south-east at 15 to 20. Winds are expected to be southerly averaging 15 knots today, and surf should be choppy all day.
High tide will be at 10:52 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:05 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 7.2 ft. at 6.6 seconds in south-easterly wind swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy, and we should have some surf all day.
We see a moRe on-shore – south-easterly – wind and swell direction with wind swell building from the south-east this afternoon, with choppy conditions ahead of a cold front. This swell could quickly clean up Tuesday, going small during the middle of next week. There are still some waves in the forecast early week, but surf might get small for a few days late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will push offshore tonight and be followed by a stronger cold front late Tuesday and Tuesday night. High pressure will then prevail into late week before another cold front possibly affects the area this weekend.”

Waves at the Washout at knee thigh to waist high with an occasional stomach high set, and looks fun for the longboard. It is a bit soft at the morning’s high tide.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is bumpy with a clean face here and there.
We see easterly winds at 10 to 15 knots rotate south-easterly at 15 to 20 late today with choppy wind-swell late this afternoon.
High tide will be at 10:13 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:24 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:19 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period south-easterly swell and south-easterly wind swell.
We see a more on-shore – south-easterly – wind and swell direction with wind swell building from the south-east this afternoon into Monday, with choppy conditions ahead of a cold front.
