Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Lots of Christmas gift ideas are here! Gift cards, Stance socks, Corkcicles, shop tees & hats, and lots more. Christmas is in a week.
It’s probably better to Christmas shop than it is to surf this morning: Surf is knee high maybe a slightly larger wave. It’s clean, and it’s pretty cold.
Winds are west/north-west at 2 knots.
We see light and variable winds today, and surf zone will be relatively clean.
We are just coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 1:15 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:10 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 8 sec. in medium period east/north-east swell.
Very small clean surf for today, and we have week winds and weather to start the work week, and surf looks to remain anemic into mid-week, when we could have a quick shot of pre-frontal south-west wind swell. A cold front moves through, and the same frontal pattern pushes up wind waves sometime likely early next weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A dry cold front will move through today, followed by high pressure this weekend. Another front will bring unsettled weather across the region Monday into Tuesday, then shift offshore during the middle of next week.
It’s 40* with sunshine this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 61* and bright sun.
Water temperature keeps going down with these cold temperatures, and is now 53*.
Sunset is at 5:15 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:16 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
