THE SURF CAMERA IS MESSED UP. CREWS ARE FIXING THE ROOFING ON THE CONTEST SHACK. WE’LL GET IT FIXED A.S.A.P. Good Morning. This is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Thursday, Aug. 10 at 8:20 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee to thigh high. There is a slightly bigger set. Looks OK for the longboard this morning. The surf has dropped off a little bit overnight.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 knots, surf is bumpy and soft, but fairly clean.
We expect south-east winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon and surf should stay fairly clean today.
The first high tide will be at 10:10 a.m. Low tide will be at 4:16 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 5 seconds in short-period north-east wind swell.
We have clean, soft waves out there this morning average knee to thigh high for the longboard. We do expect an increase in south/south-east swell into the waist high range for Friday and into the weekend as a low pressure system near the Bahamas produces some wind and storms to our south. We also continue to monitor a low near the Lesser Antilles moving in our general direction. Winds trend south for the weekend, and surf should be bumpy.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A front across the area will lift north this afternoon. High pressure will gradually rebuild from the Atlantic Friday through early next week. A cold front may approach the area later Monday or Tuesday.”
It is 76* with clouds this morning. Expect clouds and sun today and a high of 83* with a 20% chance of rain.
Sunset is at 8:09 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:39 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.

Waves at The Washout are thigh to waist high with stomach sets in glassy conditions.

Looking fun out there right now but a bit on the mushy side with the high tide.

Winds are NNE at 8 to 10 knots. We expect ESE winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon and surf should stay fairly clean today.

The first high tide will be at 9:34 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:38p.m.

Clean and glassy waves out there this morning average waist to stomach high and the surf should drop out some late morning with the low tide. The surf may pick back up late this afternoon as the tide comes in. Surf gets smaller late in the week. There is a tropical disturbance headed our way. It is not forecast to develop much, but its associated tropical wave could bring some swell to our beaches late in the weekend.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A front will drop into the area today, lingering into Thursday before lifting back north. High pressure will rebuild Friday through early next week. A cold front could approach the area next Monday or Tuesday.”
