Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, Oct. 1st at 8:30 a.m.  

Carolina Surf Film Festival is set for October 20-21^st at the Brickhouse Kitchen here in Charleston, and if you’re looking to take a road trip, they’ll be at Waterman’s Brewing Company in Wilmington on October 13-14^th! Always a great time!

Waves at the washout are thigh to waist high at the morning’s lower tide.

Winds are NNE at 20-25 knots, and surf is choppy. Look for ENE winds at 20-25 knots this afternoon, keeping the surf fairly choppy but hopefully this wind will push in some swell.

Low tide is at 11:00 am, high tide will be at 5:27 p.m.

Edisto buoy is reading 9.2 ft. at 7 seconds in steep east/north-east ground swell. Most swell is heading south past our beaches.

Surf at the washout is thigh to waist high and should increase as the day goes. Looks like a tropical low is going to build off Florida’s East coast and bring strong north east wind and east ground swell today and through the middle of next week . This swell continues into your work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Tropical Storm Maria will continue to track off the Mid Atlantic coast through late week. A cold front will move through the area by early this weekend, followed by high pressure into early next week. Refer to the latest advisories on Maria from the National Hurricane Center.”

It is 62* and sunny this morning. Expect a cooler day than we’ve had lately with a high of 76* and partly cloudy today.

Water temperature is around 81* but will probably drop after this cold front moves through.

It is draining out a bit at the morning’s low tide, but should get better form as the tide comes in mid-morning.

Winds are NNE at 10-12 knots, and surf is semi choppy. Look for ENE winds at 15-25 knots this afternoon, making the surf fairly choppy but hopefully this wind will push in some swell.

Low tide is at 10:03 am, high tide will be at 4:36 p.m.

It is draining out a bit at the morning’s low tide, but should get better form as the tide comes in mid-morning.

Winds are north at 5 knots, and surf is nice and clean. Look for ESE winds at 10 knots this afternoon.

Low tide is at 9:04 am, high tide will be at 3:41 p.m.

Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 10 seconds in high-angled east/north-east ground swell. Most swell is heading south past our beaches.

Surf looks small to end the work week, then we should see a choppy, high angled north-east wind swell build Saturday increasing Sunday after a cold front passage on Friday night. This swell continues into your work week.
