Dec 1 2019

choppy and building

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: stomach +
Traffic: none
Parking: Some to be found.
Dangers: Strong winds

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, Dec 1 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly this morning is knee to waist high and building.

Winds are whipping SW at 20+mph making for choppy/drifty conditions.

Look for winds to persist SW into the 25mph as a front approaches.

High tide will be at 11:16 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:20 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 ft. at  6 seconds in dominant SW wind-swell paired with underlying small E swell.

Surf is building in Folly today currently showing waist high sets. We have a strong frontal boundary approaching our marine area throughout today bringing strong onshore winds resulting in building choppy conditions. Surf should reach the chest high zone before dark. The bad news is timing with this front as it looks to pass Folly early tonight resulting in a early rotation of winds to offshore blowing the surf back down. Hopefully their will be a small leftover for Monday morning fingers crossed. Best bet to get wet is today and Monday for the next 5 days. High pressure looks to settle itself again throughout much of the work week resulting in small to flat surf.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will then move through Sunday with some rain followed by cooler high pressure through the middle of next week. Another storm system late next week could bring a bit more rain.”

It’s mild to warm but overcast and windy, with a temp of 66*. Look for rain to move in later this afternoon with a high of 71*.

Water temperature is now 58*

Sunrise is at 7:02 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
