Bumpy. But pretty clean, overall.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Knee.
Traffic: Some.
Parking: Plenty. Parking restrictions lifted at Folly Beach.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 16 at 8:30 a.m.

There are no more parking restriction at Folly Beach. Parking is now available on Center Street and all side-streets.

Surf at Folly is knee-high.

Winds are light and variable this morning, and surf zone is fairly clean, but weak.

Look for winds to shift west at 10 knots, and surf zone should stay fairly clean all day.

Tide just starting going out. We have a low tide at 2:05 p.m., and a high tide will be at 8:15 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy is showing 2.6 ft at 6 seconds in medium period east swell.

This swell continues to be smaller into late week, with waves in the knee-high range and clean this morning. Winds stay offshore today. Look for a relatively clean surf zone all day. After a cold front passage tonight, look for high-angled, north-east wind swell to increase behind the front for your weekend. This should increase wave size, but surf will also be drifty north-to-south and semi-choppy. Our next chance for some real surf is a broad upper-level low south and east of Bermuda that could fire up some small ground-swell heading into the middle of next week as it moves south and west. Hopefully, this will create some easterly ground swell during the middle of next week with winds trending moderate north/north-east for the period.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will move through today, then high pressure will build over the area through much of next week. A weak coastal trough will develop early next week.”

It’s 72* with sun and high clouds at the beach this morning. Look for a great beach day with sun and a high of 80* and sun.

Water temperature is 74*.

Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:46 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
