Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 21 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Waves at the Washout this morning are flat-to-knee high.
Winds are north at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean with a drift running north-to-south, down the beach.
Look for north winds to continue today at 10 to 15 knots.
We are coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 1:58 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:04 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4 feet at 5 seconds in a high angled north/north-east wind swell.
After some decent – but windy – south wind swell on Sunday, surf has dropped off overnight. We see increasing, choppy, high angled north-east wind swell for Tuesday averaging thigh high, swell rotates southerly for Wednesday when we should see some choppy waist to chest high south swell. South swell cleans up late Thursday as winds blow strong from the west after another cold front passage, with leftovers for Friday in the waist high range.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through Wednesday. A cold front will push offshore early Thursday with high pressure prevailing Friday and Saturday. A storm system could affect the area Sunday.”
It’s a cold 35* with a wind chill of 26* this morning. It is sunny. Look for a high of 42* today with sun.
Water temperature is around 55*.
Sunrise is around 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:41 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
