Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Carolina Surf Film Festival is set for October 20-21st at the Brickhouse Kitchen here in Charleston. And don’t miss the Carolina Surf Film Festival in Wilmington THIS WEEKEND!
Spring suits and full suits are in and many of them are discounted big time!
Waves at the washout are thigh to waist high with a stomach high set in easterly ground swell. It’s been getting a nice little push on the mid-incoming tide over the past few days, and this morning looks like there will be some waves mid-to-late morning again.
Winds are north/north-east – side-shore – at 10 to 12 knots, and surf zone is crossed up and closing out with a slight drift.
We expect winds at 10 to 15 knots from the north-east by afternoon making surf side-shore and choppy.
We have a low tide this morning as of report time. High tide will be at 3:17 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:36 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft. at 8 seconds in ESE swell, so there is plenty of swell at the buoy, and we should have some waves all day.
Might want to get on it mid-morning with the tide push. Look for north-east winds today at 15 chopping up thigh-to-waist high (plus) surf. We expect winds to rotate moderate north-easterly into the weekend. Small easterly trade wind swell should average thigh to waist high (plus) with semi-choppy conditions for your weekend session. We see poor quality, high angled north-east wind swell fill in next week after a strong cold front passage.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weakening cold front will move through today followed by high pressure through Sunday. A stronger cold front will cross through the region late Monday, followed by more seasonable temperatures.”
It is 75* and cloudy this morning. Expect a high of 80* and partly cloudy skies. There is a 20% chance for a shower.
Water temperature is around 79*.
Sunset is at 6:48 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:22 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
