victory at sea

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: head high +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: hurricane surf

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 10 at 8:30 a.m.

The Carolina Surf Film Festival takes place Friday and Saturday nights at Tradesman Brewing Company. It is always a great event, with lots of vendors, raffles, and great surf films on the big screen. Check out carolinasurffilmfestival.com for tickets and details.

Waves at the Pier this morning are head high + with victory-at-sea conditions.

Winds are SE this morning at 20-25 knots and surf is choppy, disorganized and sea sick.

Winds are expected to remain from the SE today with gusts increasing up to 40 knots overnight.

High tide is at 9:24 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:31 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:36 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 9.8 ft. at 10 seconds in medium period SE wind swell. Expect large, chunky, dangerous surf conditions today into tomorrow as Hurricane Michael makes its way across the Gulf states, Georgia and into South Carolina. We should expect full tropical storm conditions for Thursday with waves in the head high + range with victory-at-sea conditions brought on by strong variable winds.  Unfortunately this type of off shore weather isn’t in our favor! Refer to the NOAA NHC website for more details on the storm.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Hurricane Michael will move north through the Gulf of Mexico before making landfall along the Florida Panhandle this afternoon. Michael will then gradually weaken to a tropical storm as it moves northeast across Georgia and South Carolina tonight and Thursday.”

It’s 80* with light rain this morning. Expect a high of 84* with rain and thunderstorms today.

Water temperature is 82*.

Sunset is at 6:53 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:20 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
