Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, November 5 at 8:30 a.m.
With the time change, we will move into our winter hours until around March. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. everyday. Closing at 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Waves at the pier this morning are running waist high with stomach high sets in a short period south wind swell. Occasionally, there is a bigger set, but it is mushy and choppy. Best to bring the high-volume board.
Winds are south at 15 knots this morning, bumping up the surf.
We expect surf to possibly clean up a bit as winds become south at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 11:44 a.m., and a high tide will be at 5:53 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 5 seconds in a dominant south/south-east wind swell. There is a easterly swell rolling 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds under the wind swell.
We see surf average waist high today with a possible bigger set as the tide comes in early this afternoon in a short period south wind swell. Swell should continue thigh to waist high Tuesday, but south-west wind will ramp up and make surf-zone choppy and drifty. Winds come north for Wednesday, when we see a cold front stall near our marine area. Surf cleans up for Wednesday. We should see thigh to waist high surf for the long-board glide. There is mixed direction easterly swell predicted for the later half of the work week, before a strong cold front blows high angled north-east wind swell down the beach for the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak coastal trough will linger over the area into Tuesday before a cold front moves in Tuesday night. The front will stall over the area and remain nearby through early in the weekend. Cool high pressure will build in from the northwest late in the weekend into early next week.”
It’s 73* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 75* and thunderstorms in the forecast – a 40% chance.
Water temperature is 68*.
Sunset is at 5:25 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:41 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
