Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, November 30 at 8:15 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are flat.
Winds are west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is semi-clean.
We see south-west winds at 5 to 10 knots today, keeping surf zone semi-choppy, but there is no swell.
Tide is now coming in. high tide will be at 1:47 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:07 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1 ft. at 10 seconds in a long period east/south-east swell. It’s not pushing through the west winds.
We see this flat spell trend prevail today, but we should have some surf start to push up Saturday by mid-afternoon as a warm front lifts north of our marine area. This swell builds significantly for Sunday, but there will be some moderate south-west winds on it, so conditions will not be perfect. But the weather will be warmer and we should have some rideable waves Sunday in the waist to chest high range with choppy, south-west wind swell conditions. This swell continues but begins to drop some for Monday. Surf looks to drop out for the middle of the work week as a cold front pushes through Tuesday into Wednesday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will shift offshore today. A warm front will lift northward through the area Saturday into Saturday Night, bringing a period of unsettled weather. A cold front will then slowly approach the region from the west early next week, and is expected to push offshore by the middle of next week.”
It’s 49* and sunny. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 69* and sun.
Water temperature has dropped to 56*. It’s getting cold out there, so you at least need a 3/2 and some booties to surf this weekend.
Sunrise was at 7:02 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
