Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 4 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are running about knee high and are choppy in a building easterly wind swell.
Winds are easterly at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is choppy and side-shore.
Winds are forecast easterly at 15 to 25 knots by late morning, and surf-zone should be very drifty and choppy today.
We have a high tide at 9:15 a.m., and a low tide at 3:11 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:33 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1 ft at 10 seconds in an east/south-east swell, with a short period easterly wind swell at 2.6 ft. at 5 seconds.
We have small surf again, and the wave drought continues into week four. Welcome to the East Coast. We should see small swell again this week, with small longboard waves on-and-off in a combination of easterly swell and south wind waves all week. Expect surf to pick up a bit for Wednesday and Thursday – compared to what we have been seeing – with surf averaging knee to thigh high with a plus set in mostly choppy conditions. Hurricane season started on Saturday, and it’s not too early to see a storm pop up near our coast-line along a stalled frontal boundary, or out of the Gulf of Mexico, so we’ll keep an eye on that.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure north of the area will move off the coast today then remain anchored offshore through late week while a surface trough lingers over Georgia and the Carolinas. A series of upper level disturbances are expected to result in periods of unsettled weather this weekend into early next week.”
It’s 80* and cloudy this morning. Look for a cooler day at the beach, with a high of 84* and a 20% chance of rain.
Water temperature is around 83*.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
