Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, September 27 at 8:30 a.m.
We have tons of wetsuit tops, jackets and spring-suits for men and women. Come on by and pick one up as the morning air temperature is starting to cool off some.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are blowing from the south at a pretty good clip – about 15 knots – and surf is disorganized, choppy and kind of drifty.
Look for continued southerly winds at 15 knots this afternoon, and we should see a choppy surf zone all day.
We are coming off a high tide this morning, and low tide will be at 1:11 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:28 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 5 seconds in a small south-west wind swell.
Surf looks overall pretty small this weekend, with south wind swell around thigh high predicted at our beaches through late Sunday. Looking ahead, tropical storm Karen has lost steam overnight, and will move into our swell window as a tropical low-pressure system over the next few days. The remnants of the tropical system are then predicted to move west into early next week. This should combine with long-period swell from Major Hurricane Lorenzo, pushing in another sizable ground swell early next week – Monday through Friday. There will likely be some east/north-east wind on it early in the period, but surf could clean up some during the latter part of next week. Either way, more swell is coming.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will stall over or near the area today. This front will dissipate on Saturday with high pressure for remainder of the weekend into the middle of next week.”
We have nice weather this morning. It’s 80* and sunny. Look for a hot day with a high of 86* and partly cloudy skies today.
Water temperature is 80*.
Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:09 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
