Pier November 9th

sideshore, clean faces

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: waist +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: chilly!

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, Nov. 9th at 8:30 a.m.

It’s getting colder, and we have lots of jackets and flannels from all of your favorite surf brands. We also have a great selection of booties, hoods and gloves out on the floor, so come get your cold water gear while the selection is still good.

Surf at The Pier this morning is in the waist high range with an occ. stomach high wave.

Winds are N at 15 knots with gusts up to 20 knots. Faces are clean this morning, but we do see sideshore conditions with that northerly chill and textured conditions.

Look for winds to decrease throughout the day, hovering in the 10-15 knot range with gusts up to 20 knots.

We have a low tide at 11:27 a.m., and a high tide will be at 5:40 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7.2 ft. at 7 seconds in a short period NNE/ENE wind/swell combo, most of which is passing by our beaches to locations south of our waters.

We see an obvious cold front this morning as air temperatures have dropped significantly.  There is swell in the water, but you will be dealing with fairly strong winds and of course that high-angled swell direction. We see high pressure move back into the area early next week with fluctuations as cold fronts and and various pressure systems move through.  Look for pockets of surf as low pressure moves in next weekend. We expect the water temperature to continue dropping, so come see us to get bundled up for winter.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail into early next week. A cold front will pass through the area Tuesday, before high pressure returns and prevails through Thursday. A low pressure system could the impact the region next weekend.”

It’s 45* and sunny this morning. Look for a nice day and a high of 59*.

Water temperature is slowly dropping, now 69*.

Sunrise is at 6:42 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
