Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 3 at 8:30 a.m.
We have new men’s and women’s spring merchandise arriving daily, so come see what’s new for spring.
Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a slightly bigger set in a building south/south-west wind swell.
Winds are south-west at 10 knots, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy, but looks pretty fun.
Look for winds to pick up south-west at 15 to 20, and surf should get choppier/driftier and hold size this afternoon.
We just coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 1:52 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:58 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 7 seconds in a medium-period south wind swell, with a shorter period south/south-west wind swell 5.2 ft at 5 seconds.
Looking into the work week we an approaching frontal boundary move into our area this afternoon. Moderate onshore flow from the SSW will generate swell into the waist-to-chest range with choppy conditions. The frontal boundary stalls just off-shore on Wednesday and a low pressure system moves along the front on Thursday. This will keep south swell in the forecast through Thursday with winds moderate to strong on-shore through the period. The front looks to finally move out of the area Thursday when surf falls off some for Friday as high pressure sets up again, and off-shore winds blow waves down.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move offshore tonight, becoming stationary to the south tonight through Wednesday. Low pressure will move along the front on Thursday, followed by high pressure Friday through the weekend.”
It’s a pleasant 61* with clouds. Look for a mostly cloudy day and a high of 69* with a chance for a shower.
Water temperature is around 56*.
Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
