Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 5 at 8:30 a.m.
We have new men’s and women’s spring merchandise arriving daily, so come see what’s new for spring.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high and weak in a fresh north-easterly wind swell.
Winds are light from the north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is semi-choppy.
Look for winds to pick up north-east at 15 to 20 knots after a low-pressure system passes over our beaches this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 10:02 a.m., and a high tide at 4:03 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 5 seconds in a shorth-period, building north-east wind swell.
Winds go strong north-east this afternoon, making for a high-angled building, choppy, north-east wind swell with drift down the beach. The front looks to finally move out of the area overnight as high pressure sets up again by Friday afternoon. Off-shore winds blow waves down for the weekend. We should see high pressure set up off the Mid-Atlantic early next week as another cold front approaches, and surf should build some from the south during the middle of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will move over South Georgia today, then quickly shift offshore tonight. High pressure is expected Friday through early next week. A front could approach the region towards the middle of next week.”
It’s 55* with rain and clouds this morning. Look for a high of 57* this morning with rain and thunder-storms in the forecast.
Water temperature is around 56*.
Sunrise is at 6:40 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:20 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
