Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, June 1 at 8:30 a.m.
Surfing bird checking the easterly wind-swell with us this morning.
Welcome to the first day of the official 2020 hurricane season. We already have two tropical storms under our belt. So lets hope for more surf and less destruction. As if 2020 could get any crazier.
We will be open from 9:15 a.m. until 6 p.m. Please follow social distancing protocols when shopping.
Waves at Folly this morning are knee-thigh high in a high-angled, north-east wind swell. It is choppy and weak as the tide goes out this morning.
Winds are east, north-east at 15 to 18 knots.
Winds are forecasted easterly today at 10 to 15 knots by afternoon, and choppy, short period wind-swell should continue around thigh-high today.
Low tide is this morning is at 10:30 a.m. and high follows at 5 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.0 ft at 8 seconds in a ESE swell.
A strong low moves off the North-East coast pushing a north-east wind swell in the Atlantic early work week. Unfortunately for us it will have to much north and east in it. Most will be heading to Florida. There will likely be some high-angled easterly wind swell on Tuesday. Otherwise the surf in our area does look to be small and choppy from the south most of the work week. Long term models are still showing a decent low develop in the Gulf of Mexico late week, and that could bring some choppy on-shore flow for the weekend, but we’ll have to keep an eye on the progressive development of the low, and it’s forecast track.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region this week, before a cold front approaches the area this weekend.”
It’s 74*, cool and sunny. It’s a beautiful morning. Look for a high of 78* today and very nice beach weather.
Water temperature is around 78*. Back to boardies and bikinis.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
