Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh high and soft this morning at the high tide.

Winds are west/south-west at 10 to 12, and surf is semi-choppy.

Winds should increase from the south-west throughout the day, blowing 15 to 20 later this afternoon, with choppy south-west wind waves on the increase.

We have a high tide at 10:07 a.m., and a low tide at 4 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:23 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 5 seconds in a predominantly short period south/south-west wind swell.

We should see south/south-west wind swell build in the thigh to waist high range with poor form late this afternoon on the incoming tide. We see drifty, choppy conditions this afternoon.  We should see choppy south-west wind swell build some into mid-week as a cold front approaches for Thursday. Surf falls off again later Thursday into Friday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A series of upper level disturbances will move through the area today through Wednesday. A cold front will move through Thursday night, followed by high pressure through early next week.”

It’s 78* and mostly sunny out at the beach. Look for a high of around 83* with sun and a 35% chance for a thunderstorm later today.

Water temperature is 80*.

Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
