Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June. You must wear a mask in Ocean Surf Shop. Thank you for your cooperation, and for supporting our small, local business.
We have a new shipment of Odysea and Catch Surf soft-boards that arrived and they are going fast. Come check them out.
Surf at Folly this morning is running around knee high peelers and clean conditions. Nice morning for the logs.
Winds are light from the west/north-west, and conditions are nice and clean.
Winds should increase slightly 5-10 mph later in the day out of the west. Overall surf conditions should remain fairly clean through much of today.
We have a low tide at 6:16 am. High tide to follow at 12:33 P.m. Low tide to conclude the day at 6:24 this evening.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 8 seconds in an east/south-east swell.
Surf is looking small to start our weekend running knee high this Friday morning fun for a log. Tropical Storm Fay was born mid-day yesterday just north of Hatteras unfortunately nothing shows for us. Good news is things look to ramp up a bit in onshore SSW flow on Saturday afternoon. Onshore flow should keep a building trend through Monday afternoon where it should peak into the waist-belly+ range. Winds will be a slight factor. Also keep your eyes on the tropics!
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will linger over the area through early next week. High pressure is expected to return towards the middle of next week.”
It’s 79* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon with a high of 89*.
Water temperature is way up to 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
