Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.

Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June.

Surf at Folly this morning showing knee-to-thigh high with a waist set. It’s weak, and best for the long-board this morning, but it looks kind of fun for some summer style surf, early this morning.

Winds are from the south/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy.

Winds will increase from the south at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. Creating surface chop on the water.

We have a high tide at 9:48 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:46 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:08 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at seven seconds in an south-east swell and a small, short period south-west wind swell component.

Surf is looking small through the work week as blocking high pressure is set up over our marine area, bringing miserable temperatures and small waves. This high pressure shifts further east late work week and looks to produce a SMALL trade swell from the south-east for the weekend. Might be OK for the longboards. Tropics are heating up a little bit as several areas of interest are forming. One in the Gulf of Mexico moving west, and Tropical Depression number Seven in the south Central Atlantic. Neither system looking to send us swell, but the tropics are starting to heat up.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will persist through early next week.”

It’s 86* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a hot, sunny day with a high of 91* at the beach and high humidity.

Water temperature is up to 87*.

Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
