Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June.

Surf at Folly this morning showing knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist set. It’s weak, and best for the long-board this morning, but it looks kind of fun for some summer style surf, early.

Winds are from the south/south-east at 5 knots, and surf is a bit bumpy, but looks OK if you want to pull out the longboard.

Winds will increase from the south-east at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. Creating surface chop on the water.

We have a high tide at 10:39 a.m., and a low tide at 4:37 p.m. Tide comes in until well after dark.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at six seconds in a medium period south-east swell with a small, short period south-east wind swell component.

High pressure shifts further east for late work week and looks to produce a SMALL trade swell from the south-east for the weekend. Might be OK for the longboards. Tropics are heating up a little bit as several areas of interest are forming, including Tropical Storm Gonzalo in the south Central Atlantic. There is also a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. Both systems are moving west into the Gulf of Mexico. Neither system looking to send us much swell, but the tropics are starting to heat up.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will persist, along with showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening.”

It’s 85* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a hot, sunny day with a high of 89* at the beach and high humidity.

Water temperature is up to 87*.

Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.
