Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 24 at 7:30 a.m.
New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.
Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June.
Surf at Folly this morning showing knee-to-thigh high. There is a waist set. It’s weak, and best for the long-board this morning, but it looks kind of fun for some summer style surf, early.
Winds are light and variable this morning making for clean conditions early.
Winds will increase from the south-east at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. Creating surface chop on the water.
We have a high tide at 11:35 a.m., and a low tide at 5:33 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell with a small, short period south-east wind swell component.
High pressure shifts further east for late work week and looks to produce a SMALL trade swell from the south-east for the weekend. Might be OK for the longboards. Tropics are heating up Gonzalo about to enter the southeastern Caribbean islands. Also Tropical storm Hanna was born in the gulf of Mexico. Long range models are starting to align and sniff out our next swell maker late next week. A low looks to depart off the Bahamas and develop right off our coast. It’s a long ways out and lots can change but for now looks like late next week is something to keep focus on.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will persist, along with showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening.”
It’s 85* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a hot, sunny day with a high of 90* at the beach and high humidity.
Water temperature is up to 87*.
Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
