Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, August 7 at 8:30 a.m.

It’s Tax Free Weekend in South Carolina. Who remembered that? Come on by and save some money on shoes and apparel this weekend.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.  Construction taking place to build sea-wall.

Mandatory Mask Ordinance enacted by Folly Beach City Council in late June.

Surf at Folly this morning is around knee-to-thigh high. Might get a little bigger set on the incoming tide, but it is mushy and weak.

Winds are light and variable with high clouds off-shore. Surf is clean this morning.

Look for winds from the south this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, and we see choppy surf later in the day.

High tide will be at 11:07 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:09 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 10 seconds in long-period period east/south-east swell.

We have some small long-board surf with clean conditions this morning. Conditions should fall off some on the lower tide late this afternoon. After a good run of surf over the weekend and early work-week, we see small surf through the weekend, with mainly small southerly wind-swell in the forecast over the next several days. There is a train of tropical waves coming across Africa this week. We’ll see if any develop, but until then, grab the long-board and enjoy some small waves.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak, stationary front will linger to the west through the weekend before dissipating. The region will then be situated between Atlantic high pressure offshore and an inland trough of low pressure.”

It’s 83* with sun and clouds mixed, this morning.  Look for a high of 87* and a slight chance for a thunderstorm.

Water temperature is up to 87*.

Sunrise is at 6:37 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
