Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 26 at 8:30 a.m.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.

Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.

Surf at Folly this morning is thigh-to-waist. It’s drained out at the morning’s low tide. It should get better form as the tide comes in.

Winds are light from the west, and waves are pretty clean. Still a few fun ones coming through.

Look for winds to stay rotate south late day at 10 knots. Surf should stay relatively clean today.

We have a low tide as of report time, and high tide will be at 3:13 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:22 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 8 seconds in a south-easterly ground swell.

There’s still a few waves left-over, especially for a high volume board. Swell looks to drop off today, but should be fun through the afternoon high tide.  We expect stronger SE swell to fall off some into late-week, with a fresh, choppy south-west wind swell arriving on Saturday ahead of a cold front.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will expand across the region and prevail through late week, before a cold front approaches this weekend. High pressure will then return early next week.”

It’s 79* and sunny. Look for a high of 87 with a 20% chance of rain this afternoon.

Water temperature is 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:50 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:50 p.m.
