Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, December 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a slightly bigger set. and pretty clean. It’s soft at the higher tide this morning, but certainly fun for the high-volume board.
Winds are north at 10 knots. Surf is side-shore, clean and moderately drifty.
Look for wind to continue north at 15 knots this morning, going west this afternoon.
High tide is right around 9 a.m. Low tide is at 3:08 p.m.
Virtual buoy data is reading 3.9 ft at 8 seconds in a south-east swell, with an east/north-east wind swell 5 ft at 8 seconds.
We see good surf today as a storm system passes near our marine area, kicking some swell our way as winds stay side-shore this morning, going west this afternoon as the storm system moves away. Surf looks smaller for late week and into the weekend as high pressure returns.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A storm system will bring impacts to the region today, then move away tonight. High pressure is forecasted to prevail Thursday into Saturday. A weak storm system could cause some impacts across the region early next week, followed by a return of high pressure.”
It’s 49* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 53* and rain this afternoon.
Water temperature has dropped to 58*.
Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:14 p.m.
