Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 5 at 8:30 a.m.

New Billabong men’s and women’s apparel and board-shorts have arrived for spring. Come check them out!

Surf this morning is knee-to-thigh high in a building south-west wind wave.

Winds are picking up from the south-west at 15 to 18 already this morning, and surf is looking choppy.

Look for winds to increase from the south-west at 15 to 20 with higher gusts this afternoon. Waves get choppier and drifty as the day wears on.

Coming off a low tide at 8 a.m., and high tide is at 1:52 p.m., and low tide is at 8:08 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 4.7 ft. at 5 seconds in a building, short-period south/south-west wind swell.

Surf looks to build today in a short-period south-west wind swell. It will likely get pretty choppy later today as south-west winds increase as a cold front passes our area. Surf falls off quickly overnight, so there might be a small, fading wave on Saturday morning, but not too much. Easterly swell picks up some on Sunday as a low-pressure system moves off-shore. High pressure sets up to our north-east early next week, and could set up some small easterly trade-wind swell though mid-week. We’ll keep you updated.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will shift across the area today, followed by a low pressure system Saturday night. High pressure should then prevail early next week, before conditions become more unsettled during the middle of next week.”

It is 55* with clouds at the beach. Expect rain this afternoon and a high of 57*. There is a small craft advisory in effect with the winds this afternoon.

Water temperature is 52*.

Sunrise is at 7:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:56 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
