Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, February 15 at 8:30 a.m.
We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s STILL cold, but come by and get one while they are still available before the weather warms up. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.
Surf at The Washout is knee-to-thigh high. It’s weak on the higher tide.
Winds are north-north-east at 10 knots, and surf is slightly side-shore and semi-choppy.
Look for wind to switch on-shore, from the east, and 10 knots this afternoon. Surf should be semi-choppy later today, with continued drift down the beach.
High tide is at 10:16 a.m. and we have a low tide at 4:17 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium-period south/south-east swell, with a east/north-east wind swell component.
We have a small, angled north-east wind swell in the water this morning with raw conditions at the beach. Bring your full wetsuit kit if you want to surf today. Surf should pick up some Tuesday as swell is forecasted to move more on-shore from a south-westerly direction overnight as low pressure passes off-shore along a frontal boundary. So, if you are into some cold surf, might be a few to ride for the next few days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A warm front will lift north through this area this evening as low pressure passes well to the west. A trailing cold front will push offshore Tuesday morning. High pressure will prevail Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by a cold front late Thursday. High pressure will then prevail through the weekend.”
It is cold, cloudy and rainy at the beach. It’s 47*. Look for a high of 54* and with clouds and showers this afternoon.
Water temperature is 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:01 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:05 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
