Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 24 at 8 a.m.

We finally have a fresh stock of SofTech softboards and all sizes of body boards back in the shop. Come check them out and get ready for spring-time surf before they sell out again! We also just received a shipment of Rusty apparel! Come check it out!

Surf at The Washout is knee-to-thigh high, with occasional smaller sets.

Winds are out of the west at <5 knots and surf zone is mostly glassy, with some light texture added from the wind.

Look for winds to increase to 5-10kts, south-south-west later this morning into the afternoon. Surf will likely get more choppy into the evening, but hold its form the remainder of the day as winds remain below 10kts.

Low tide is at 11:44 a.m., and high tide is at 5:47 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 1.2 ft. at 9 seconds in a small, medium period east, south-easterly wind swell.

We see winds increase from the west/south-west this evening into Thursday morning, making for similar swell size to what we see this morning, potentially a tad more choppy. That high pressure system will remain on the coast through Thursday, which will precede a backdoor cold front entering our area Friday and Friday night. Look forward to a hot, sunny beach day Saturday and Sunday as we could reach highs of 75-80 degrees. We should see another storm system effect our area for the weekend, and south swell should pick up Friday into Monday. Tuesday holds a promising outlook as well, as we may see another frontal system impact our area around that time. We’ll keep you posted.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail through Thursday. A backdoor cold front could move into the area Thursday night followed by a wave of low pressure along the front that could impact the region Friday and Friday night. High pressure will prevail Saturday, before a frontal system impacts the area early next week.”

It is 50* this morning with sunny skies. Look for the sun to keep shining for the remainder of the day, with a high of 64*.

Water temperature is 53*.

Sunrise is at 6:52 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:13 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
