Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 2 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of Futures Fins, and a lot of spring merchandise and apparel is arriving daily. Get ready for spring with Ocean Surf Shop.
Surf at The Washout is knee-to-thigh high with poor form.
Winds are from the north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots. Surf is side-shore and semi-clean with a significant drift down the beach, north-to-south.
Look for increasing north-easterly winds at 15 to 18 knots with a gust to 25 knots today. Surf will be drifty and get a bit choppier this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 9:53 a.m., and a low tide at 4:04 p.m. Tide will be high again at 10:25 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 2.7 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium-period south-east swell, with a high-angled, short-period north-east wind swell blowing past our beaches at 4.6 ft. at 5 seconds.
Swell shifts to the north-east on today, with windy, choppy, small north-east wind swell moving past our beaches. Another storm system moves offshore our marine area Wednesday, increasing surf once again for mid-week from the east. Surf goes small again on Thursday, with another north-east style swell picking up some Saturday with overall poor conditions.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Low pressure will approach from the southwest today and move across the area tonight into early Wednesday. High pressure will then prevail until late week when another storm system could brush the area. High pressure will return again early next week.”
It is much cooler this morning than it has been. It’s 54* and cloudy. Look for rain and a temperature drop this afternoon, with a high today of 52*.
Water temperature is up to 59* but will likely fall some as cooler north winds are expected for the next several days.
Sunrise is at 6:44 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
