Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 16 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. There is an occasional chest set. It’s semi-choppy, but not quite as windy as it was yesterday. No one is out, and it looks pretty fun.
Winds are south-south/west at 10 to 15 knots.
Look for winds to pick up from the south-west later today at 20 to 25 knots.
We will have a high tide at 10:42 a.m., and a low tide will be at 4:37 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 4.8 ft. at 5 seconds in a building, short-period south wind swell.
Surf looks pretty fun this morning, and should be rideable though high tide. Winds pick up from the south-west this afternoon, and surf should get choppy and drifty. A warm front lifts through our marine area today and will stall through mid-week. So, we should have some more surf today through Thursday, with stronger south/south-west winds and chopper surf. Surf should be choppy and windy Thursday, as a cold front approaches the marine area and winds go strong south-west. Look for a quick clean up on Friday before wind and swell goes strong north-east after a cold front passes the marine area over the weekend. There should be some surf this week, just not always the best quality
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A warm front will lift into the forecast area today and stall over the region through mid week. A strong cold front will push through Thursday. High pressure will build in this weekend and prevail through early next week.”
It is currently 59* with clouds and showers. Look for a high of 69* and a chance of showers with clouds all day.
Water temperature is around 59*. You’ll be OK in a 3/2 and maybe booties.
Sunrise is at 7:26 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:28 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
