Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, March 26 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee—to-thigh high with a slightly bigger set as the tide starts to head out.  It’s a weak, short-period south-west wind swell. It is super foggy.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 15, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy in a weak south-west wind swell.

Look for winds to increase from the south-west this afternoon at 15 to 20 with a gust to 25 knots. Look for choppy, drifty surf this afternoon.

Tide is going out and will be low at 12:51 p.m. High tide is at 7:04 this evening.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 4.3 ft. at 5 seconds in a small, shorth period south wind swell, which should build some today.

Surf looks to pick up waist-to-stomach high in a pre-frontal wind swell today as a weak cold front approaches, stalls and then dissipates in our marine area. Surf looks to fall off some for Saturday, picking up in choppy south-west wind swell again on Sunday ahead of a stronger cold front. Winds go north-east behind the front to start the work week, and we see high angled north-east wind swell once again. Most of which will pass by our beaches. Look for this swell to rotate more on-shore during the middle part of next week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A weakening cold front will stall and dissipate over the region today. Another cold front should push through late in the weekend with another disturbance possible by mid next week. A stronger cold front should then move through by the end of the week.”

It is currently 66* with heavy fog this morning. Look for a high of 71* at the beach with mostly cloudy skies giving way to occasional sun.

Water temperature is around 62*, and should start climbing.

Sunrise is at 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:34 p.m.
