Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, May 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high.
Winds are north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is semi-choppy and weak with some drift down the beach.
Look for winds to rotate more easterly and increase 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20. We see building, choppy, high angled wind swell this afternoon with a slight drift down the beach.
Tide just started coming in, and high tide will be at 1:11 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:09 p.m.
There are a few small waves for the long-board this morning, but it’s not much. Atlantic High pressure sets up this week, and should see building, high-angled easterly wind swell fill in this afternoon. Nothing too much, but as high pressure sets up off-shore mid-week, look for increasing, rideable easterly trade wind swell later in the work week averaging thigh-to-waist high with mostly choppy conditions.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail through next week.”
We have perfect beach weather. It’s 73 and sunny. Look for a high of 74* today and partly cloudy skies.
Water temperature is up to around 73*.
Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:14 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
