Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 29 at 8:30 a.m.
We will move into summer hours this weekend, opened from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. every day but Sunday, when we close at 5 p.m. We will close at 5 p.m. Memorial Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is about thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Maybe slightly larger.
Winds are south-west at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is weak, choppy, and drifty up the beach.
Winds are going to increase from the south today at 15 to 20 with a higher gust. We see choppy south wind swell on the increase this afternoon.
We have a high tide at 11 a.m., and a low tide at 4:58 p.m.
We see increasing south wind swell ahead of a cold front this afternoon with gusty winds and choppy conditions on the low tide late this afternoon. South wind-swell swell should begin to drop off overnight. Surf cleans up and drops rapidly Sunday morning on the incoming tide, and continues knee-to-thigh high for Memorial Day as winds shift moderate from the north-east.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will push through the area tonight followed by high pressure from the north into the middle of next week. The high will then move further offshore later in the week.”
It is 78* and sunny. Look for a high of 82* this afternoon with thunder-storms in the area by mid-to-late afternoon.
Water temperature is around 78*.
Sunrise is at 6:13 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:21 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
