Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday , June1 at 8:30 a.m.
Hurricane season officially starts today. Fingers crossed for some fun, tropical surf in the coming months.
Surf at Folly is knee high. Maybe slightly larger.
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is side-shore, weak and semi-choppy. There is a slight drift down the beach north-to-south.
Winds rotate north-east, then east at 10 to 20 knots this afternoon. Surf-zone should get choppy as the day wears on.
We are coming off a low tide, and high tide will be at 1:57 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:56 p.m.
We see small, high-angled east/north-east wind swell to start the holiday work week. High pressure sets up to our north, as a broad low develops well off-shore to our south-east late in the week. This will cause a bit more significant on-shore flow from the south-east late week. Surf should be on the increase later in the work week with a nice, small trade-winds swell rolling in Thursday into the weekend. Winds trend south at 10 to 15 knots for the period, so expect some chop in the ground swell.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “High pressure will give way to more unsettled weather by late week. A return to more typical early June weather is possible early next week.”
It’s 71* and mostly cloudy at the beach. Look for a high of 76* and sun mixed with a few clouds today.
