Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of new Orion surfboards from Greg Geiselman. Come check them out.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-thigh-high. It’s bit weak. Best for the bigger board.
Winds are west at 6 knots this morning. Surf zone is clean, with some texture.
Look for west wind at 10 to 15 knots today, going south-west at 15 knots late day. Surf-zone should be fairly clean today, with bumpy conditions late day.
We have a low tide at 12:49 p.m., and a high tide at 7:30 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 8 seconds in a south-east swell, with a south-west wind swell 2.6 ft. at 4 seconds.
Not much swell at the buoy today, and it’s not looking like much surf for the end of the work week. We see high angled easterly wind swell pick up over the weekend as a low moves east of the Georgia Coastline along a stalled frontal boundary. Not much chance of tropical development, but it should keep some wind and easterly wind-swell in the forecast Saturday into Sunday.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A weak front will drop through the area today and tonight, then high pressure will build from the north through the weekend. Atlantic high pressure will rebuild early next week while a trough develops inland.”
It’s cloudy this morning and 80*. Look for a high of 82* today with some rain showers possible this afternoon – a 50% chance.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
