Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 28 at 8:00 a .m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is knee-to-waist high. There is a slightly larger set in the stomach high range.

Winds are south, south-west this morning at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is bumpy and kind of soft, but there are some “cleanish” sections. There’s a slight bit of texture and residual chop on the wave surface, but it still looks pretty fun if you need to get wet. It should get increasingly better with the incoming high this mid-morning.

Look for north winds this afternoon decreasing to 0 to 5 knots, and we should expect to see continued textured waves, but consistently rideable throughout the afternoon.

We have a high tide at 12:04 p.m. Low tide will be at 5:55 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 8.3 seconds in an east/south-east swell.

There is still some rideable surf in the water this morning, expected to increase in size and length of ride with the incoming high tide. Probably best for the higher-volume board. Nothing too big this morning, but looks like you should be able to get a couple turns in down the line. The tropical low that produced the swell for the past few days moved on-shore overnight, and continues to bring onshore flow to our marine area today. Conditions will be bumpy and semi-choppy overall as winds trend west to south-west over the next few days. Surf drops off Thursday and Friday, then we see small south-west wind swell fill in for the weekend.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Weak low pressure will weaken over the area today. Dry and hot conditions are expected Thursday and Friday. A cold front will remain over or just north of the area this weekend into early next week, resulting in a wet weather pattern.”

It’s mostly cloudy and somewhat wet this morning and 79*. Expect thunderstorms and showers to die off as the day goes on. Look for a high of 84* with high humidity today.

Water temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:32 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:21 p.m.
