Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, October 4 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is knee-to-thigh with a rare waist high set this morning. Looks kind of fun for a long-board glide, but it’s mothing to write home about. There’s not too many people out, which is cool.
Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for winds to rotate more onshore from the south-west at 10 knots this afternoon, going south at 10 knots late afternoon. We see a bumpy surf-zone this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 12:44 p.m., and a high tide at 7 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell compliments of Hurricane Sam.
Surf looks to average around thigh high today, but later in the work week it looks like we’ll get a home-grown low pressure offshore which should kick the surf back up with choppy conditions as localized winds blow from the east/north-east for the period. Should be some more swell on the way, but likely not of the clean variety.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “The area will lie under the western portion of Atlantic high pressure today and tonight, with a weak trough found inland. A complex storm system will bring periods of unsettled weather throughout the week.”
It’s sunny and 73* this morning. We have beautiful weather. Look for a high of 81* at the beach and partly cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water temperature is 78*.
Sunrise is at 7:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 7 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
