Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, October 17 at 8:30 a.m.
We have received tons of new boards over the past two days. Boards from Gary Wilson, Solid Surf, Torq along with softboards and bodyboards from SofTech. We are finally stocked WAY back up, so come check it out.
Surf at the Washout is knee-high with a rare thigh set.
Winds are side-shore, westerly at 128 to 22 knots. Surf-zone is semi-clean and textured with a drift down the beach north-to-south.
Look for increasing north winds at 20 to 25 knots this this morning, dropping some at 10 to 20 this afternoon. We see a drifty, semi-choppy surf zone all day.
Tide is going out, and low tide will be at 12:13 p.m. The next high tide will be at 6:37 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 7.5 feet at 7 seconds in a short-period north-east wind swell.
A cold front moved offshore overnight, and we see more high-pressure set up late Sunday and to start the work week with strong north winds and much cooler weather on tap. Unfortunately surf is looking small for the work week, too. Tropics are quiet for now.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region most of this week. A cold front is forecasted to move through towards the end of the week.”
It’s 60* and sunny this morning. It’s beautiful and cool. Look for a high of 69* today with sun and some. It’s a perfect fall beach day.
Water temperature is 76*.
Sunrise is at 7:25 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
