Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, November 4 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a shipment of O’Neill Hyperfreak 4/3 wetsuits that just arrived. It’s been hard to get wetsuits in stock, so come check them out while we still have some.
Surf at the Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high in a high-angled north/north-east wind swell.
Winds are strong from the north at 15 to 20 knots with a higher gust.
Surf is drifty, weak and semi-choppy.
This wind pattern should continue all day, rotating more north-east at 15 to 20. Surf should get choppier and driftier as the day wears on. We expect shallow costal flooding at times of high tide for the next few days.
We just came off a high tide, and low tide will be at 2:06 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:04 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 8 feet at 7 seconds in a short-period, high-angled north-east wind swell.
Welcome to our first significant north/north-east blow of the season. As a cold front moves through we see low pressure develop near our marine waters as it infuses with the front. Surf should build from the north-east today into Friday and pick up significantly Saturday into Sunday. Look for a high angled, drifty, north-east wind swell. Puerto Rico might be the call if you’ve got the means. Put you paddle-arms on for the Folly Beach session, or park one car at the north-end of the island and one car at the pier, because it’ll be drifty until Monday. There should be waves in Florida if you’re game, but wind will be an issue for most of the mid-Atlantic and Southeast Atlantic. You’ll need some neoprene, too. A spring suit will likely be ok.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front offshore will move farther south over the next few days. A coastal low is expected to develop along the cold front bringing unsettled weather to the area through the first half of the weekend. High pressure will then build into the region.”
It’s 52* and mostly cloudy this morning. Look for mostly cloudy skies and a high of only 60* today.
Water temperature is going down. It’s now 70*. It’ll drop to the mid-60s by early next week.
Sunrise is at 7:40 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
