Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Sorry the pictures are not great this morning. It is super foggy.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with chest sets. There looks to be a slightly bigger set. It is semi-choppy, early.

Winds are south-west at 10 to 12 knots, early. There is heavy fog in the area.

Look for winds to increase from the south-west at 15 to 20 with a higher gust as a cold front approaches for tonight. We see increasingly choppy, drifty surf as the day wears on.

High tide is at 10:15 this morning, and low tide will be at 4:18 this afternoon.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 7.2 ft at 6 seconds in a combination of south-east swell and south/south-east wind swell.

Surf looks fun this morning. There is plenty of south-east swell in the water. We see surf average waist to chest high this afternoon with increasingly choppy conditions as winds pick up from the south-west. Winds go north for Saturday morning at high tide, and this could clean up a fading south swell. Swell switches to the north/north-east and fades off for Saturday afternoon, before picking back up Sunday and Monday with strong north-east wind and choppy, drifty, side-shore north-east wind swell averaging waist-to-stomach high.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will move through the area through tonight. High pressure is expected to build from the north Saturday, followed by a series of low pressure systems off the coast into the early or middle part of next week. High pressure will then build from the west by late next week.”

It’s 64* at Folly Beach this morning. It is cloudy and foggy. Look for rain this afternoon and a high of 67*.

Water Temperature dropped to 51*.

Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:55 p.m.
