Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, February 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high in a high angled north-east wind swell.
Winds are north – side-shore – at 15 to 20 knots. Surf zone is semi-choppy, early, with drifty conditions down the beach, north-to-south.
Look for increasing north-east wind this afternoon at 20 to 25 knots with a higher gust as a low pressure system begins to develop off-shore. We see drifty, semi-choppy surf this afternoon.
High tide is at 11:44 this morning, and low tide will be at 5:45 this afternoon.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 9.5 ft at 7 seconds in a short period north-east wind swell. Much of this swell is passing by our beaches and headed south to Florida.
There is some thigh-to-waist high-angled north-east wind swell in the water today. It is semi-choppy this morning as the tide comes in, with plenty of drift north-to-south, down the beach. This wave and weather trend continues into Monday as a low pressure develops off-shore and begins to move north-east Monday night. We see surf fall off for Tuesday as high pressure sets up and winds go offshore. Mid-week is looking small, so if you need to get wet, today and Monday are going to have the biggest waves.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region today. Low pressure will develop along the coast tonight and move northeast through Tuesday. High pressure will then rebuild across the region and prevail through the end of the week.”
It’s pretty cold this morning. It’s 43* at Folly Beach. It is cloudy. Look for a high of only 48* today with clouds and a chance for showers.
Water Temperature is around 51*.
Sunrise is at 7:10 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:57 p.m.
