Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m. We have a new shipment of Billabong booties in all sizes for your cold water surf sessions. Come grab some while the selection is still good. Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high in a high angled north-east wind swell. Winds are north-east at 20 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, drifty and choppy. Look for winds to continue north-east at 20 knots today with a high gust. We see choppy, drifty surf today and Tuesday as strong north-east winds continue. Tide is going out. Low tide is at noon. High tide will be at 6:04 p.m. The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 10 seconds in a long period south-east swell, with a dominant north-east wind swell – 5.6 feet at 5 seconds. We see strong north-east winds for the next 36 hours, and a drifty surf zone with waves averaging thigh to waist high. Overall, conditions are poor, but surf should pick up some for Tuesday in a continued, high-angled, north-east wind wave. Head to Florida if you need some swell through mid-week, as a lot of swell will be passing by our beaches. Surf goes small mid-to-late week, before we see another south trade wind swell next weekend with bigger conditions and south winds as high pressure sets up well off the mid-Atlantic late Saturday into Sunday. Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build into the region today and remain the dominate feature through the work week. On Friday, a large low pressure system will organize over the Central Plains, lifting a warm front north of the region through this weekend.” It’s 50* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of only 57* today with cloudy skies. Water Temperature is up to around 60*. It’ll go down a few degrees over the next few days, but should be on the rise again late week. Sunrise is at 6:48 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:16 p.m. Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
