Happy St. Patrick’s Day, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, March 17 at 8:30 a.m.

We will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for spring hours with the time change. Back to long, lazy afternoon sessions.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist high with a stomach+ set and semi-glassy with an west wind averaging 5 knots. Lots of water with the high tide, but definitely some push to it. Boards with some volume will be fun. Foggy this morning.

Look for westerly winds at 5-10 knots this afternoon, eventually going southwest at 5-10 in the late afternoon.

Tide is going out. Low tide is at 2:09 p.m., and high tide will be at 8:25 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 7.7 seconds in a fading south-easterly long-period swell.

A low pressure system continues to through our marine area. The surf-zone has cleaned up today as winds are forecast to be westerly for most of the morning. Winds come south-west Friday and Saturday, and we see short-period south-west wind swell fill in. Look for a quick clean-up Sunday morning after a cold front passage Saturday night. Surf will likely fall off Sunday but hope for some cleaner leftovers on Sunday morning.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will slowly move through late in the week with high pressure returning for early next week. Another storm system will then likely impact the area mid next week.”

It’s 57* with fog this morning. Look for a high of 72* and sunshine today.

Water Temperature is back up to 62*.

Sunrise is at 7:26 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
